Creases across the toe box are the first visible sign of wear that most shoes develop, and wearing mint-condition high-end sneakers for everyday wear can be an expensive proposition if a few weeks of use makes them look less-than-fresh.
The high value of mint-condition shoes has led to high prices for crease protectors—up to $20 for a single piece of injection-molded plastic. Searches for sneaker shields, crease preventers, and related products like crease spray are also rising, indicating growing interest in the category.
