The Top 8 Wine Trends of 2025

Analyst’s NoteBelow, we'll dive into the top wine trends of 2025, identified using our software and analyzed for their long-term potential and impact, shaping the wine industry into 2026.

White versions of traditional reds

There’s a growing consumer preference for lighter, more refreshing wines, especially during warmer months—but that doesn’t mean people are abandoning their favorite varietals. Instead, many are turning to white or “blanc” versions of traditionally red wines like Malbec or Cabernet Sauvignon.

These white versions are made by gently pressing red grapes and removing the skins early in the process, which results in a lighter-bodied wine with brighter acidity and subtle flavor profiles. They offer the familiarity of a favorite grape with the crispness of a summer white—perfect for casual sipping, warm weather pairings, or bridging the gap between red and white drinkers.

As drinkers explore more experimental and unconventional wine offerings, these white reds are gaining traction not just as novelties but as serious contenders in modern wine menus.

Zero alcohol wine

The desire to reduce alcohol consumption, one of the top trends in health & wellness, without giving up the social rituals associated with it, has led to a rise in the popularity of non-alcoholic wines, also often called zero alcohol wine.

This shift has spurred demand for beverages that mimic the taste and sophistication of traditional wines, letting consumers partake in social events without the effects of alcohol.

Skin contact wine

The growing craft beverage movement, which emphasizes unique, artisanal, and small-batch products, includes skin contact wines as a niche category that attracts adventurous wine drinkers.

Skin contact wines are a type of wine made by leaving the grape skins to ferment with the juice, giving it a distinctive color and robust flavor.

Interest in natural and organic wines, too, is on the rise as consumers become more health-conscious and environmentally aware. Skin contact wines often fall into these categories as a less interventionist winemaking process.

Lower-ABV wine

There’s a growing consumer preference for lighter, less alcoholic drinks as part of health and wellness trends, positioning drinks like tinto de verano as a favorable alternative to heavier or higher alcohol content/ABV options.

Also, with tinto de verano being packaged for convenience, it appeals to the casual, outdoor, and home consumption markets – part of the broader growth of the ready-to-drink (RTD) market.
